SITUATION

Wares Wood is off the beaten track, on the south side of the Dudwell Valley and is approachable on foot via Greenwoods Lane in Punnetts Town, or alternatively from Burwash Common, about 1 mile to the north via Vicarage Lane and then over the bridle way which leads south from Poundsford Farm passing Ware's Wood on its eastern boundary.

ACCESS AND RIGHTS OF WAY

ESCC has confirmed that whilst there are a number of public footpaths in the surrounding area with one terminating a short distance from the boundary, with a bridle way running round part of the land, Ware's Wood is not affected by any public rights of way.

DIRECTIONS

From Heathfield proceed east out of the town on the A265 and continue for about 4.5 miles bearing right into Burwash Common and up into Vicarage Road. After about 200 yards turn right and immediately turn right again into Vicarage Lane. Park in Vicarage Lane and continue on foot to the end of the lane and then along the bridle way, continuing past Poundsford Farm and on down crossing the foot bridge over River Dudwell. Ware's Wood will be found on the right hand side.
